These statistics inspire all of us at the R.J. Leonard Foundation to support our Fellows who are trying to change the trajectory of their lives,
against all odds.
against all odds.
SO, WHAT IS THE POINT?
Jo Leonard, our founder, had been serving paying clients for two decades, helping teenagers apply to college, twenty-somethings launch and manage their careers and coach executives to excel. She began to realize, however, that there was little attention being paid to young people aging out of foster care in our wealthy and ostensibly progressive community.
After only a little digging, she discovered group homes filled with youths who had little in common with those she was helping. They were less fortunate, young people who didn’t have role models inspiring them, teaching them work ethic and motivating them to complete their education and become self-sufficient adults pursuing purposeful and rewarding careers.
The R.J. Leonard Foundation is committed to helping the least fortunate and most underrepresented young adults in our community: foster care teens aging out of the system. Our goal is to put them on the same playing field as their more fortunate peers.
